Hi Peech, There are certain large networks that indeed use IPv6. im not sure which ones though, although you might be surprised at the number of academic/defense networks that span the united states.
Abilene (internet2) is likely to make the transition to IPv6 before any other mainstream networks. Post Comments |

HI, I believe Cisco is fully supporting it starting in IOS 12.2 on 2600 series and above routers, but I'm not totally sure. It's controlled by a field in the IP packet header which states whether it's an ipv4 ot ipv6 packet. I haven't heard of any attempts to use it outside of a test lab yet. It will be a huge undertaking to try and convert everyone on the internet, but it will eventually have to be done. Both systems will no doubt work in parallel for many, many years.
There's a ton of info on it here: http://www.cisco.com/ipv6 Post Comments |

That looks cool, but my heart is out for the new routers that can combine the upload/download speeds of two or more broadband connections!
Get this: If you have cable you can le ase an extra IP and buy a second cable modem. With the router that I mentioned above, you can double your throughput both up & down! There are several of these routers already on the m arket! There are some that can handle numerous broadband connections = unlimited possibilites. ..... Post Comments |

I want to read about that!!! Multilink for broadband!!!! WooHoo!!! Which router are you talking about? There's quite a few on DSLreports.
Dial up users who are drooli ng for broadband but can't get it take note: You can do this with normal modems also. If y our ISP supports multilink, you can buy a few analog modems and have a few extra phone lines p ut in and use them all together. You can configure a multilink connection in NT and W2K. When you dial your ISP, it will dial all of the modems and use all the bandwidth, so if you have fo ur 56k modems you now have one 224k connection. Not true broadband but if you can afford the extra phone lines it's better than one modem. Post Comments |

Oottay, I saw it on DSLreports also.
Most ISPs do not support shotgunning modems. Post Comments |
