The uninstall doesn't work well in 3.5 extensions and VS2008 hangs

I went to install the 3.5 extensions and it took a while for it to finish. When I went to start VS2008, it hangs just before displaying the Start Page. I have to force a close to get it to close. VS was working fine until I installed this.  The uninstall doesn't work right either.. it keeps hanging too! Is anyone else having this problem? It's bad enough that I have to repair VS2008 to get it to work! Thanks for suggetstions in advance! Kay

The problem might be that it just takes a whil e to complete.
